Rev. Lynette Richardson

What Is A True Friend?

Over the years I’ve learned that as long as you have money, everybody wants to be your friend, and as long as they can get what they need from you, they will continue to say “I am your friend.”
What is a true friend to you?
A true friend to me is one who loves you no matter what goes on in your life, no matter if you are having problems or troubles. If you get down sick or just down on your luck, a true friend just doesn’t turn their back on you when you really need them the most.
Over the years I’ve learned that as long as you have money, everybody wants to be your friend, and as long as they can get what they need from you, they will continue to say “I am your friend.”
However, your so-called “friend” will stop calling you friend and turn their back on you and stop having anything to do with you. That’s not a true friend; a true friend is closer than a brother and will not leave you in times of trouble.
Psalms 41:9, Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me. Psalms 41:11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me. Psalms 35:14 I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.
