Kids Enjoy Summer At 13th Annual Beach Bash

“The event is geared more for kids than adults. Based upon the smiling faces I saw, we definitely had a lot of happy attendees. We appreciate the support from our citizens, community partners and event sponsors,” Merritt states.

The City of Douglas hosted their 13th Annual Beach Bash this past Tuesday and according to event organizer Pattie Merritt it was once again a “huge success” with approximately 2,000 in visitation this year.

The families that attended the free event were seen sliding down the three giant water slides or jumping on one of the bounce houses. The City of Douglas also provided face painting, a hoola hoop contest, a street dance, pony rides, and a massive sand pit where the kids were able to build sand castles while they pretended they were having a day at the beach.

The children were also greeted by several surprise visitors including Fire Pup, Sparky, and McGruff.

“The event is geared more for kids than adults. Based upon the smiling faces I saw, we definitely had a lot of happy attendees. We appreciate the support from our citizens, community partners and event sponsors,” Merritt states.

This year’s event is sponsored by the Douglas Rotary Club, City of Douglas, McRae Coca-Cola, 93.5 The Eagle, Shine 101.0, WDMG 99.5 The Big Dog, and All Clean Portables.
