CHS Drops Region Finale to Lee county, Advances to State

In Friday night’s final regular season game, the Coffee Trojans fell to region foe and defending state champion Lee County. In anticipation of a long-awaited rematch, the home team and fans have looked forward to this game all year.  A victory for the hometown Trojans, however, just wasn’t meant to be.
Lee County immediately opened up the first quarter with a touchdown pass. Quarterback Kyle Toole threw the ball into the arms of SB Daveon Sanders who raced straight to the end zone. A flawless play earned props from Coffee players. A PAT followed giving the LCHS a 7-0 score. After three and out, Lee County once again made its way downfield. After a valiant defensive effort from Coffee, Lee’s strength proved too much as Lee County's Charles Carr barreled his way into the end-zone. The extra point was good as the first quarter ended with Lee leading 14-0.
The second quarter opened up in similar fashion as Lee's Toole connected on a three-yard pass to Chauncey Magwood. Magwood raced to the end-zone for the third score of the night. The PAT was good and Lee increased its lead to 21-0. It didn't take long before the visitors were back in the end-zone once again. The visiting Trojans scored on a 15-yard field goal and with one minute left before the half, Magwood hauled in another touchdown pass. Heading into the locker room, Lee County led Coffee 31-0.
Following the halftime break, the hometown Trojans took the kickoff and marched down the field with QB AJ Wilkerson scoring on a three-yard run. Toni Rivas’s PAT was true with Lee still leading 31-7. The visiting Trojans would add one final touchdown with QB Toole tossing a 10-yard pass to Chauncey Magwood who raced to the end zone. Beaver’s PAT was good with Lee County taking home the victory with a final score of 38-7.
The Trojans will take on the Stephenson High School Jaguars in next week’s AAAAAA playoff game. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 at  James R. Hallford Stadium, 3789 Memorial College Ave., Clarkston, GA 30021/
