A 25-year old Coffee County man was tragically killed over the weekend in a fiery car accident near Broxton, and he will be laid to rest on Wednesday at Reedy Baptist Church in Douglas.
According to local emergency officials, 25-year old Coty Brown, the son of Frank and Frances Kathryn Brown, was killed on Friday night, October 8, when he lost control of his vehicle on Brooks Road near Broxton.
Officials said Brown’s car went off the roadway and struck a culvert, causing the vehicle to flip several times.
While the vehicle was flipping, it struck a tree several feet in the air before coming to rest on all four tires.
The vehicle then caught fire with Brown trapped inside.
Brown’s nephew was following behind him in another vehicle when the accident occurred and attempted to rescue him, but the flames became too much and he had to vacate his rescue attempt.
Brown died at the scene.
Brown will be laid to rest on Wednesday, October 11, at Reedy Baptist Church in Broxton. Funeral services are scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
The Enterprise sends prayers and condolences to Brown’s family and friends.
