Coffee’s Sophia Winters Inks Tennis Scholarship With GSSU

Coffee High School senior Sophia Winters recently signed a scholarship to continue her tennis career at Georgia Southwestern State University, this after having one of the best, if not the best, individual season in Coffee High history as a junior in 2017.
Winters was joined at the signing by her mother and father, Ines and Daryle Winters, as well as her grandmother, Cookie Winters, in signing on to become a member of the GSSU Hurricanes tennis team following her graduation from Coffee High in 2018.
Also in attendance was former Coffee High tennis coach Whit Moorman, who is now a tennis instructor at Inspiration Tennis Academy in Florida, Coffee assistant tennis coach Holly Bagwell, and new Coffee High tennis coach Dylan Windom.
Last season as a junior and the Lady Trojans’ number-one singles player, Winters compiled an overall record of 19-1 in leading the Lady Trojans to the Region 1-AAAAAA Championship and the Sweet 16 in the State Playoffs. She went undefeated in region play and was named the Region 1-AAAAAA Player of the Year.
