County Seeking More Than $1.1 Million In LMIG Funds For Road Improvements

The commission unanimously approved their 2017 LMIG application for submission to the Georgia DOT, and seven road projects are included in the application. Coffee County is set to receive $1,121,849.37 from the Dot for the projects, a 30% increase over last year’s funding.
The Coffee County Commission met on Tuesday morning, July 5, and unanimously approved to submit their 2017 Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) application, which will likely result in more than $1.1 million in funding from the Department of Transportation for local road improvements. The county also approved a resolution that will allow for them to receive a $25,000 grant for the purchase of a patrol car. 
The commission unanimously approved their 2017 LMIG application for submission to the Georgia DOT, and seven road projects are included in the application. Coffee County is set to receive $1,121,849.37 from the Dot for the projects, a 30% increase over last year’s funding.  
Three of the projects, Peachtree Circle, Newberry Road and Lott Lane, will all be paved, while resurfacing will occur on four other roads, Old Highway 149, Fitzgerald Highway, Harvey Vickers Road and Ramblewood Road. 
The commission also unanimously approved a resolution that will allow for them to receive a $25,000 Community Facilities grant that will fund the purchase of a patrol car for the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office.
The Coffee County Commission will meet again n Monday, July 20, at 9:30 a.m.
