Donations Sought For Wreaths Across America

Donations Sought For Wreaths Across America
The leadership of Broxton and Nicholls, several churches, and families has accepted responsibility for Veterans buried in their cemeteries. However, to reach this year’s goal, last year’s sponsors must contribute again. We have had a lot of support from numerous businesses, individuals, organizations, and churches, but a lot of the sponsors from last year have yet to contribute so we are asking for their help once again to make this possible,” Wreaths Across American Coordinator Jerome Loving states.
On Saturday, December 17, members of the Veterans’ Organization of Coffee County (American Legion Post 515, VFW 5976 and American Legion Post 18) will once again host their annual Wreaths Across America ceremony. The organization is currently seeking donations for the wreaths so they can be placed on each grave of a fallen Veteran in Coffee County.
Wreaths Across America is an annual event observed all across the United States and 24 foreign countries. During the event wreaths are placed on every Veteran’s grave in our national cemeteries. Many cities across the United States also place wreaths on Veteran’s graves in local cemeteries.
This year the post plans to put wreaths on graves throughout each cemetery in Coffee County. There are currently 51 cemeteries and over 2,100 veterans identified for flags and wreaths in 2016.
