“Senator Harper has always been a friend to the Georgia fire service and as Chairman of the Senate Public Safety Committee he has been a driving force at the Capitol, helping us with bills that make our jobs both safer and better,” said Robert Singletary, president of GAFC, in a press release.
Local State Senator Tyler Harper was recently selected by the Georgia State Firefighters Association (GSFA) and the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs (GAFC) as a recipient of the GSFA / GAFC 2016 Legislator of the Year award. Harper was presented this award during the 2016 Georgia Fire Service Conference awards ceremony on August 13 in Augusta. “It is quite an honor to be chosen by the Georgia State Firefighters Association and the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs as a Legislator of the Year,” said Harper, who represents Georgia’s 7th Senate District. “Georgia’s firefighters work hard to keep our families and communities safe, so I have tried to do what I can to make sure the needs of these brave men and women are brought to the forefront of legislative discussion.”
