Missoula Children’s Theatre to Begin Next Week
The Missoula Children’s Theatre, hosted by Coffee Alliance for the Arts, has become an annual tradition for the past 22 years. Their most recent production will take place next Saturday after a week long theatre program.
Auditions for this year’s production, Robin Hood, will be held this upcoming Monday at South Georgia State College begining at 10 a.m. and are open to children between the ages of six and 17. Rehearsals for the production will take place all week from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., and organizers ask that you bring your own lunch.
Coffee Alliance for the Arts President JoAnn Dana stated, “This is an inclusive opportunity for our local children to have a theatre experience. Students who have participated for many years have gone off to college and majored in Theatre Arts. One of those students, Elaine Friend, graduated from Coffee High School in 2011 and went to Columbus State, majored in Theatre, and went on to work for Missoula Theatre. That shows this experience really benefits these children and promotes the arts in our area.”
As many as 64 children can be cast in the play, and there are five leading roles.
The cost is $25 per child for the entire week, and the theatre company provides costumes for each child. Each student will also receive a DVD copy of the performance.
The production will take place on Saturday, June 15, with the first showing beginning at 2 p.m. and the second showing at 5 p.m. Tickets for the play are $8 for adults and $5 for children and can be purchased at the door on Saturday.
Coffee Alliance for the Arts is always looking for organizations and businesses to help sponsor the Missoula Children’s Theatre and welcomes donations. For more information or to donate, call JoAnn Danna at (912) 384-3397.
