Satilla REMC: All Power Restored After Irma’s Wrath

Satilla REMC officials notified The Enterprise that all power has been restored following Hurricane Irma’s wrath last week.
According to Crystal Gill of Satilla REMC, 47,000 Satilla REMC customers were without power on Monday, September 11, when Irma came through and ravaged South Georgia. The 47,000 members who lost power make up 85% of Satilla’s membership.
Of those 47,000 people who lost power, 10,364 were in Coffee County.
In the four days following Irma, Satilla REMC had the power outages reduced to 2,022 members, or 3.6% of its membership. Of those 2,022, 1,050 were in Coffee County.
Satilla REMC Coffee Director Scott Day commented, “We greatly appreciate all of our members’ patience and understanding, and we’re proud that all power has been restored. Our linemen did a fantastic job and worked extremely hard to restore power to all of our valued members.”
