Walter Wright Trial to Begin Next Week
A trial for a Douglas man, Walter Russell Wright, who allegedly killed 57-year-old Oletha Brady on Saturday, May 13, 2017, is scheduled to begin next week.
On the day of the murder, around 1 a.m., Coffee County deputies responded to 6280 Highway 32 West Lot 4, in reference to a woman found unresponsive. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered Brady dead from a gunshot wound.
Wright, who was 58 at the time, was in the residence when the officers found Brady. Wright was then transported to the Coffee County Jail and interviewed by investigators. Following the interview, Wright was arrested on one count of malice murder and one count of possession of a firearm. No other information was released around the time of the murder.
Brady was born in Coffee County and moved back to Douglas in 2007 from Fitzgerald. According to her obituary, she worked in healthcare and was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.
The trial is set to begin on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at 9 a.m.
