Mr. Charles Wilson “Chuck” Knight, Jr., 35
Mr. Charles Wilson “Chuck” Knight, Jr., age 35 of Ambrose, GA, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 17, 2019, at St. Joseph/ Candler Health System in Savannah, GA, following an extended illness. Mr. Knight was born February 13, 1984, to Charles W. Knight, Sr., and Sandra McCallum Knight. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ron Parker, Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Oscar and Pearl McCallum; and his paternal grandparents, Jeffie and Nora Mathews.
Mr. Knight, a native of Coffee County, was a farmer. He was a former deputy of Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office. He was a member of DeBerry Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his parents, Charles W. Knight, Sr., and Sandra McCallum Knight of Ambrose, GA; fiancée, Christina Aguilar of Ambrose, GA; two sisters, Dede Childers of Ocilla, GA, and Cheri Hart of Blackshear, GA; six nieces and nephews, Latasha Dorminey of Ambrose, GA, Samantha Albritton of Douglas, GA, Jenifer Giddens and Morgan Lindsey both of Fitzgerald, GA, Jade Tanner of Tifton, GA, and Ryan Tanner of Nicholls, GA; nine great-nieces and great-nephews; and his beloved puppy, BJ.
The funeral service was held Sunday afternoon, July 21, 2019, at 3 p.m. at Deberry Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Dean officiating. The interment followed in Deberry Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were John Ott, Matt McCallum, Ryan Tanner, Mathew Albritton, William Cooper, and Warren Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Dept., Fitzgerald City Police Dept., Irwin County Sheriff’s Dept., Broxton City Police Dept., Coffee County Sheriff’s Dept., and EMT units.
Special musical selections included “Old Rugged Cross” and “I’ll Fly Away” presented by the DeBerry Baptist Church Choir with Peggy Ott at the piano; “If Heaven” presented by CD music; and “Suppertime” rendered by the soloist and pianist Peggy Ott. Prelude and postlude soft hymns were rendered by pianist Peggy Ott.
