Mr. Wyatt Stephen Spann, Jr., 88

July 29, 1930 - July 8, 2019

Mr. Wyatt Stephen Spann, Jr., age 88 of Broxton, GA, passed away Monday night, July 8, 2019, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.  Mr. Spann was born July 29, 1930, to the late Wyatt Stephen Spann, Sr., and the late Princie Irene Nicholls Spann.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris O’Steen and Sue Scruggs, and one step-son, Clyde Smith, Jr.

Mr. Spann, a native of Coffee County, attended the schools of Broxton.  He was a hardware store operator (Broxton Hardware Store) for many years.  He was also a truck driver, farmer, and mechanic.  Mr. Spann was a U. S. Navy veteran.

Survivors Include: his wife of 31 years,  Pauline Moon Spann of Broxton, GA; one brother, Joe Spann of Plant City, FL; three step-children, Joyce Bland and husband Maurice, Denise Craft and husband Dennis, and Gary K. Smith and wife Hannah, all of Broxton, GA; one step daughter-in-law, Rose Smith of Ocilla, GA; 8 grandchildren, Sammijo Mercer and husband Brad of Hahira, GA, Amber Bland of Glennville, GA, Brian Bland of Savannah, GA, Levi Craft and wife Courtney of San Saba, TX, Ben Craft and fiancé McKenzie Carter, Brandy Hicks and husband Michael, and Garrett Smith and Dillon Smith, all of Broxton, GA; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service was held Wednesday morning, July 10, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Reedy Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Copeland and Rev. Den Weniger officiating. The interment followed at Reedy Branch Cemetery near Broxton. 

Active Pallbearers were Ben Craft, Garrett Smith, Dillon Smith, Ben O’Steen, Josh O’Steen, Jake O’Steen, and

Sid O’Steen.

Special musical selections included “Amazing Grace” presented as a congregational hymn, led by Sid O’Steen, with Georgia Ann O’Steen at the piano and “What a Day That Will Be” rendered by the O’Steen Family, with Georgia Ann O’Steen at the piano.  Prelude and postlude soft hymns were rendered by Pianist Georgia Ann O’Steen.
