Mrs. Reba Crosby Kirkland, 87
Mrs. Reba Crosby Kirkland, age 87, of Pearson, GA, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2019, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, GA, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Kirkland was born May 27, l931,in Atkinson County, the daughter of Tom and Emma Walsh Crosby. She had made her home in Pearson for many years and was a homemaker. She was a member of Pearson First United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Harvey Crosby, Tom Crosby, Jr. and Curtis Crosby, and a sister, Sonja Crosby Giddens.
Survivors include: two daughters, Karen Carter of Pearson, GA, and Seann Miller and husband E.J. of Key West, FL; two grandchildren, Kellie Carter of Douglas, GA, and Brian Carter and wife Fran of Waycross, GA; five great-grandchildren, Christian Stanfield, Brandon Carter, Ashley, Carter, Karlee Carter, and Erica Carter. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Kirkland were held Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Pearson, GA, with Bro. Steve Simans officiating. The eulogy was given by her nephew, Jerome Crosby. Special music included “You Raise Me Up” and “Wind Beneath My Wings” rendered by CD and “Amazing Grace” sung by the attending congregation, with Jay Beverly accompanying at the piano. Soft music for the prelude and postlude was by Jay Beverly, pianist. The interment followed in Satilla Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as active pallbearers were Christian Stanfield, Brian Carter, Jerome Crosby, Matthew Soles, Tim Gibbons, and Wayne Hutchinson.
Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, GA, was in charge of all the arrangements.
