CCA Girls and Boys Sweep Fullington, Mixed Results Against Crisp

The CCA girls took it to Fullington in Douglas on Tuesday, pounding Fullington by a 53-13 Final score after shutting out the visitors in the first and third quarters. Things were a little different in the boys game as the Patriots had to battle until the Final seconds to get a 55-52 win.

In the girls game the Lady Patriots got double figure scoring from Taylor Corsa (10 points) and Emma Rish (12 points) as every player got at least one shop in early substitution. Rish and Bailey Bryant both grabbed 11 rebounds.

Coach Hannah commented, “The girls came out fired up for our seniors and a chance to get some revenge for our first round loss in the GISA state playoffs last year. We put up a big first quarter and after that the game was never really in doubt. Credit to the Crisp Lady Wildcats, they have a young team and should be a force in the years to come.”

In the boys game, things got tight early as Fullington trailed by 28-26 and were almost even at 39-37 at halftime. Senior Grant Roberson led the Patriots in scoring 20 points; while senior Anson Drury scored 12 points to help CCA hold on to win. Leading rebounding efforts came from Roberson and Drury with 10 rebounds each.

Coach Hannah stated, “We never were able to get our shots to fall from outside the lane. If we were able to get to the paint against them we did well, but our jump shots never got going. We were able to apply pressure successfully in spurts, but did not make the necessary adjustments needed to continually speed them up. We'll get another crack at them on Feb. 2nd.”

The senior night game between CCA and Crisp Academy was a blowout for the girls (53-26), while the boys were disappointed with a loss (70-53). Leading score was Emma Rish with 16 points, while the boys were led by seniors, Tyler Corsa (12 points) and Grant Roberson (24 points)

Senior Night honorees and parents included Kobi Anderson and Kristie Langston, Tyler Corsa and Tommy & Pam Corsa; Anson Drury and Stuart & Kristy Drury; Erynn Hunkapillar and Britt & Dawn Adams and Jason & Amy Hunkapillar; Haley Jones and Doug & Michelle Jones; Sidney Rish and Dickie & Stacey Rish; Grant Roberson and Robbie & Tedica Roberson, and Crissi Cook; Ivy Roberts and Mark & Caroline Roberts; Madelyn Tanner and Wade & Susan Tanner.
