Coffee’s McGovern Shines For UGA In 2018, Receives National Recognition
Former Coffee High School Trojan and University of Georgia Bulldogs senior Keegan McGovern produced an amazing season for the Bulldogs baseball team, which came to an end earlier this week in the regional round of the NCCA Tournament to the Duke Blue Devils. McGovern, a co-captain of the Diamond Dogs, led UGA in several offensive categories in 2018 and has received multiple accolades, including being named to the All-SEC First Team and a Third Team All-American.
McGovern, who will be drafted by a Major League Baseball Team (The 2018 MLB Draft was underway as of press time on Tuesday), led UGA in multiple offensive categories including homeruns, total bases, runs, doubles, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and was second in batting average and RBI.
McGovern was named as a Third Team All-American, First Team All-SEC, and maybe even more impressively, the SEC’s Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Duke defeated UGA twice earlier this week to end the Bulldogs’ season, leaving UGA one win from the NCAA Super Regionals.
