Coffee Falls in Heartbreaker to Brunswick, 76-74
Coffee High boys had a tough challenge on the road in Brunswick on Thursday, trying to win a third matchup this season against the Pirates before falling by a 76-74 score as a final seconds three pointer shot wouldn’t fall for Coffee. The lead changed several times before Brunswick fell behind by five points at the end of the third quarter with a 55-52 score. Coffee battled in the fourth quarter to take a lead, but Brunswick matched the Trojans as the clock worked against Coffee. The end came in a heartbreaker that allowed fans on both sides to finally take a deep breath.
Playing without Mackenzie McFatten due to a season ending injury, Coffee got solid efforts from Jayce Moore (26 pts.), Jordan Moore (10 pts.), Richard Styles (10 pts.), Nicholas Clements (9 pts.), and Shelton Paulk (7 pts.). Styles led off the boards with 6 rebounds to help keep Coffee within striking distance.
Coach Pernell Smith had this to say about the Trojans, “It was a great game to watch, and we came up short. Our kids played hard and battled to the end, but it wasn’t meant to be. I want to thank our seniors for their hard work and dedication.”
